People across the globe make New Year’s Resolutions. There’s a resolution for any goal, from starting a new hobby to saving money.

The most common resolutions are to do with a healthy lifestyle. Resolutions are the perfect way of setting goals for yourself while keeping it fun.

To help you decide what resolution sounds best for you, here are ten of the best resolutions for a healthy 2022:

1. Limit Junk Food

Out of all the countries in Europe, the UK eats the most junk food. A third of income is spent on takeaways. Making this your resolution will not only make you healthier, but it’ll save you money too!

Instead of binging on junk, try filling your diet with whole foods. This food type includes eggs, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, fish, meat, nuts, and seeds. This diet is proven to lower the risks of heart disease and high blood sugar levels.

Relying on junk food is a habit that is hard to beat. However, setting time aside to meal plan and bulk prepare dinners.

2. Move More
Gyms see a spike in memberships around the new year. However, most people stop attending after 24 weeks.

Becoming more active doesn’t necessarily mean you have to join a gym. There are plenty of ways to move more that don’t require a membership!

Keep it simple and aim to get away from your desk every hour. Take a walk in the evening to stretch your legs. Exercise resolutions don’t need to be extreme – you can start small and work from there.

3. Reduce Alcohol Intake

December is a heavy month of drinking for many people. People can start to feel the adverse effects from all the office parties, family get-togethers, and Christmas or Hogmanay festivities.

You could take advantage of Dry January for your new year’s resolution. Challenge yourself and see if you can make the whole month without a drop of alcohol.

Cutting down on alcohol will benefit your health, but it also benefits your wallet, too. You could end up saving around £65 from avoiding alcohol for just one month!

4. Visit Your Doctor

In the UK, thousands of people ignore health concerns due to fear of going to the doctor. Due to feeling anxious about a diagnosis, too many people leave issues untreated.

However, it’s best to have an ongoing relationship with your doctor. Get your bloods checked, go for a check-up, and always attend routine screenings. These screenings are the fastest way to get a diagnosis – even before any symptoms arise.

By keeping in touch with your doctor, you’re securing your health. It’s important health issues are seen and treated quickly, so consider if choosing private healthcare insurance is right for you.

5. Be Kind to Yourself

A healthy body doesn’t make a healthy lifestyle. Remembering to take care of your mind is vital too.

People often underestimate the importance of ‘me time’. Spreading yourself too thin will only negatively affect your mental health. Take time to breathe and reset before being there for others.

Make a habit of practising self-care and mindfulness in 2022. Set time aside to go for a walk to clear your head, start writing a journal before bed, and remember to treat yourself.

Happy New Year!

Your 2022 is set to be your healthiest yet with these resolutions in mind. By setting yourself a resolution, you’re already taking steps to better yourself, and you should be proud of this accomplishment.

And remember, if you mess up, don’t be too hard on yourself. No one can snap their fingers and change instantly. These things take time, so allow yourself some wiggle room.
