Welcome to From the Ground Up!

So the first thing you’re probably asking yourself is, “What is From the Ground Up?”

From the Ground Up is a new storytelling community that has two parts: live Community Storytelling Events (the most recent ones took place in Northern Virginia in late July/early August); and a new online storytelling community here on sharemorestories.com. From the Ground Up is focused on stories from the community that deal with balancing public infrastructure projects with day-to-day life for Virginians.

This community is all about listening and learning from each other. So our goal is to help you share your stories and experiences, and express your ideas – whether that’s in person at one of our Community Storytelling Events, or right here on the site. Dominion Virginia Power wants to understand your expectations and what’s important to you, especially when it comes to infrastructure such as electric transmission projects. That’s why this community represents a unique opportunity to make your voice heard in a positive and constructive way.

To guide the conversation, we’re focusing stories on four key topics:

1. A time when you made a personal sacrifice for the greater good
2. A time when you were impacted positively or negatively by a Dominion project (esp. electric transmission)
3. A time when you made a difficult decision for your family’s benefit
4. A key experience (positive or negative) in your life that shaped who you are today

We want open and honest – and constructive – dialogue, and we know stories are perfect for that kind of thing!
