Vinnie
I’m thinking about Vinnie Migliore and his family today. What an honorable man.
My story?
Years ago, we sat in some hotel ballroom during some Altria meeting eating some unremarkable lunch, talking about our kids. Mine were just entering teenager years. I believe his were beyond that age by that point. You all know how I am with my boys. Tough love, to say the least. Sometimes that’s right. Sometimes it’s not. Vinnie said something that I think about almost every time I “get into it” with my son. He said, “I know how you feel. Just remember, your words can make their day, or crush them. And whatever you say, they’ll remember it forever.” As usual, he made his point with a story from his own experiences as a parent. I don’t always get it right on this point. When I don’t, I usually find myself remembering his words, silently promising myself to do better next time, and knocking on my son’s door to apologize for the way I approached things.
That’s what I remember about him.
We are praying for you and your family, my friend. You are precious.
