Rise and Torture of the Satan within

Of what else can Satan be,
Besides the inner torment of thee,
From time to time,
It rises and suppresses the sublime,
You try and try to end its reign,
And yet, you writhed in pain,

Let’s see what you refer to as Satan,
Without knowing, obviously it can’t be beaten.
Certainly, Satan is the form given to a mind,
Restless and fluttering all the time,
At a moment, you may be elevated with joy,
At another, you are merely a depressed boy,
Is there no end, to these meaningless thoughts?
What’s the cause that has to be fought?

No doubt, Satan’s power lies in desire,
Myriads of them burning like flames of a pyre,
The elimination of these unquenchable cravings,
Will bring an end to Satan’s slaving.

Foremost, undeniably the intense yearning for spotlight,
A convincing display of prowess and might,
Nay, the rightful term is power,
Raging, ferocious hunger to be the highest Tower,

Tailgating such a crave, would be attention,
Sounds strikingly similar to the previous temptation?
Not exactly, for the heart is eager to find the one who cares,
And create a bond to be the best of pairs,

Two intense impulses enliven the dreaded mind,
But by vanquishing them, are you guaranteed to be fine?
Aren’t there any other forms of distress?
By which, the Satan will rule and possess?

Perhaps another tormentor would be raging wrath,
The disastrous, adamant impediment in life’s path,
A mind agitated by disgrace and vilification,
Leads to complete devastation

But the deepest of the sorrow lies in fear,
Oh how I wish it fades away, never to appear,
The horror of desolation, obscurity and forlornness,
The phobia of a journey essentially purposeless.

I want to know,
How to end this sorrow,
Is it by faith and prayer,
As I refuse to live as a naysayer,
I need to know,
Life’s true purpose and I will follow.
