Seton Healthcare Ministry

Austin, Texas

Beginning in November of 2016. TouchPoint and Seton Healthcare Family have begun partnering with Feeding America Central Texas chapter to rescue left over food within our ministry. They have assisted us with partnering with local soup kitchens in each of the three test sites neighborhoods that we can donate to. They even referred us to the city of Austin that has a program that will reimburse each location up to $1800 for any equipment and supplies used to implement the program. Weekly donations are picked up by the local kitchen at each hospital and transported to the kitchen for use. In the first two weeks of the program we have rescued 400 pounds of food from three locations. We are excited to be helping the local community and look forward to expanding the involvement of our chefs in leading community outreach with these great organizations in teaching school children healthy eating habits and valuable food selection and preparation skills that they can use throughout their lives.
